I love science – people laugh when the see me reading books about differential geometry or dynamical systems, but this is the kind of stuff I read for fun – really. But I’m not completely boring – or at least I hope not – I’m also an amateur photographer, and you can see some of my work on Flickr. Initially, my interest was in landscape photography, and much of my work focuses on the central coast region of California, where I live. But I love the high Sierra and intermountain west. Ironically, I think of myself as a city person, and miss living in the city. Life in the city is something else I try to capture in my work.
Professionally, I work in the public sector on health information systems, and have throughout my career. I am especially interested standards and interoperability, and more generally in improving the quality and availability of healthcare.
I am also interested in symbolic computation and am currently looking at applications to differential geometry and theoretical physics.
